Did you know that you can use an external WordPress theme with WPD and all of its features. If you want to upload your own theme, first you'll have to download the theme to your computer.
You'll need to use an FTP client to upload the theme to your website. (Try Filezilla if you don't already have one.) Your FTP login information is on the "Website Settings" page of your WPD members dashboard.
You'll have to upload the theme folder from your computer's hard drive to the following directory on your FTP account:
public_html/wp-content/themes
Once it is uploaded, activate the new theme by logging into your wp-admin:
http://www.mydomain.com/wp-admin/themes.php
There are literally thousands of free WordPress themes out there on the internet! You're bound to find something perfect for your website.

I would like to get the WP Remix package and replace my current theme with that one. Also, I have a bunch of PHP scripts I'd like to include over time. Right now, I have a silver account. But if I use WP Remix, it would be redundant to keep the silver level, wouldn't it? Because Remix is SEO optimized, widget-ready, etc.
So I'm guessing that I would downgrade to the free version of WPD. Correct? Any advice before I buy and install the new theme(s)?
Thanks.

Well, having only 3 sites may be redundant.
If you fine a better plug in package that WPD offers, use it, by all means.
The features of Remix seem that they would enhance your WPD sites.
They are automating a lot of the theme editing processes.
The functions of WPD look as if they will work within Remix.
Let us know if you buy it.

Hi,
Following along with the instructions - I am setting up a new theme on a blog that is an add-on domain to a primary account.
So I have dragged the zip file to the folder at
/public_html/(mydomain).com/wp-content/themes
There are already 3 folders in there. So, to keep it in order I created another folder and named that folder the name of the theme I am wanting to install/overwrite the current theme with.
So I now have a zip file in that folder - do I unzip it now? If so, what next - ie how do I set it such that this is the theme running on my blog frm here?
Thanks for your support
All the best
Sam Deane.

You should make sure to unzip the file before you drag it over.
Once you unzip it, you'll see that it's already in a self-titled folder.
Drag this folder over so that it's with the other 3 theme folders.
Now you have to activate it.
Go to http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/themes.php
Click on the theme you want to activate.
Done.

Thank you - I was surprised how easy it was to do the above theme change initially, but as per most of my internet endeavors (doh!), nothing ever turns out to be quite as easy as I had hoped.
When the theme did replace to the new theme - most of it looks very good but there are one or two issues left - the main one being the large strip that was a photo gallery in the original theme as seen here
http://wpjunction.com/magazine/
is not present at all. You can see what the new theme looks like on my site here:
http://letsthinkandgrowrich.com/
Knowing that this is not a WPD recommended theme, I can understand if you would not give any support on this theme. I have written to the people linked to the theme in the footer for support.
... Any thoughts would be welcome though!
All the best

I looked at my FTP login information on the "Website Settings" page of my WPD members dashboard. I see the ftp username and password but I don't see ftp server or host to ftp to. I am trying to use the free membership to try your system before upgrading to paid member. You are hosting my site. I am using a subdomain of one of your domains. Please provide me the ftp server/host/address that I need to ftp files to my site.
Thanks

I believe you can you get the same results by going to your WP-admin page (the address is in your WPD website settings page) and go to Appearance to add new theme and have it all auto install? It would seem that might be a faster and easier way to change to a non-WPD theme... no?

OK, I followed the above instructions (installing the Thesis 1.6 theme) - the files are on the server, but I don't have a /wp-admin/themes.php file. I'm confused. Am I supposed to install WordPress, or am I supposed to upload WP-Direct files to set this up? (WP-Direct requires a theme selection before it will install anything). Any help would be appreciated.

Jeff,
OK, you are confused. If you have a WPD site, you have already installed a WP site. They are one in the same as WPD is a content management system that uses WP.
Where on your server did you put the Thesis 1.6 theme files? They SHOULD have been put into the themes folder that you can get to on your server via this path: www.YourDomain.com/wp-content/themes. You want to open the themes folder, you will see it contains folders of any existing themes that you have. THIS is where you have to have your new theme files.
Your next step is to access your wp-admin. This is done from your BROWSER. Type into the url box: www.YourDomain.com/wp-admin Then you type the username - admin. And your Password (whatever you chose when you set up your WPD site).
Once you log in to WP it will take you to the dashboard. Look in the left column for Appearance > themes. Find the theme you want and them select Activate.
