WP Direct Themes

Are we able to use themes that are not in the wordpress direct themes list??? If so, is there some optimization or features that the themes need to support?

You are free to FTP any theme you like to your site and use it.

If we use a Theme from outside WPD can we still us the control in WPD to manipilate the items in the Theme?
