the plugins after creating a new site mostly say 'deactivate'. In other words, there is no 'activate' link.

But searching the page source there is no sitemap for one. Why are most of plugins already activated or without a link to activate?

Is there a video on managing plugins?

If you only see the "deactivate" button, that means that the plugin is already active. Clicking "deactivate" will turn it off.

Are you unable to see your sitemap plugin?

Not all of your plugins show up when you view the page source. This also could be a theme issue, they are not all plugin ready.

I can see the plugin with only 'deactivate' but not on page source. I did a find for 'sitemap' and sitemap.org but nothing.

Your sitemap.xml file is on your website's FTP directory.
It is not accessible by viewing the page source.
You probably won't see it there.

Your sitemap plugin probably uploads a new version of this file and then notifies search engines.
