Custom BackGround and Artisteer Theme for Purchase

Has anyone used a theme that you buy called Artisteer?

It is very nice and can have a custom background added with great ease.

OR....

Has anyone with limited php skill been able to change a background of one of your existing templates?

I am thinking of buying artisteer but not sure I need to.
