View Full Version : How do I make text column narrower?

My theme has just two columns - I spent ages going through them all and the only ones at all suitable for my topic were just 2 columns.

But the text column is on the right in this theme, and as it's a fluid width the consequence is that my text lines are much too long to be read easily.

I'm having to use shift return at the ends of lines, which isn't the greatest solution - it can make an unholy mess if the viewer's browser isn't maximized.

Does anyone know how I can artificially make my text column narrower?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Isha,
That is an edit of a margin setting on the CSS Stylesheet.
You would do it in wp-admin>>Theme Editor

Aha. I'll have a look at that. It's beyond my tech know-how (I know less than nothing about CSS) but if I take a look and it freaks me out then I'll be much more content with what I already have!

I will report back.

:D

You might search for themes that have dynamic widths

My theme has a fluid width - was that what you meant by "dynamic"? The fluidity of the width was what was causing the problem.

Anyways, for some reason, without my doing anything at all to the Theme Editor or to the CSS Stylesheet, suddenly the lines are a nice, shorter length. Perhaps my theme is getting to understand who's boss :D

Maybe the Theme Fairy is on the job?
