To all 30DC folks: :eek::eek: Ed warned us -- and he was right! If you're not especially careful of what you are doing with the WordPress Direct content plug-ins: WordPress Answers, YouTube2Wordpress, etc. you can get into trouble with these plug-ins. I am admittedly a neophyte, as are many 30DC participants, and I set up my plug-ins to pull in more threads than my hosting service could handle. (I am hosted at HostGator). Now, my sites are constantly going DOWN because I have Cron jobs that are running which create active processes in excess of the 25 available in HostGator. Whenever I check my cPanel, I can see that 27 of 25 processes are running; thus, the site goes down. I can manually kill the processes, but they come right back up, over and over again. I can also go into the 'Cron job' section of cPanel and try to kill everything--which I have done over and over and over again--but still, there is a parent script that rebuilds the wp-cron.php file and runs these god-forsaken processes. What might be useful is if the WordPress Direct support team were to provide some basic instruction on how to kill their auto-posting plug-ins so that Cron jobs do not run amok on our host's servers. Anyway, I hope this proves of some benefit to some of the other 30DC participants.

The title of your post really should be "WPD Content Plug-Ins: DANGEROUS!! misuse at your own risk!!"
Go set your auto-posting software to Supervised Posting.
There is a video on it: Tutorial 3 - Be Your Site’s Editor With Supervised Hosting
You'll find it in the How It Works page.
People really need to take responsibility for the way they use the software. I am not unsympathetic, and I hope others will benefit from your mistake.

Couldn't agree with you more! I screwed up and now I'm paying the price. Perhaps I'm the only newbie who'll get into this kind of trouble; well, I hope so! And, by the way, I totally take responsibility for my screw-ups. I did it; I admitted it, and I posted this thread to say clearly to other newbies to simply be careful and don't make the same mistakes I did. I hope that came across as intended although I suspect its possible to interpret this as placing outside blame which was not the intent. Again, this was my mistake.

Jasper thank you for the heads up. Good of you to warn the rest of us.

Thanks for the clarification. I totally respect taking responsibility fior our actions.
I thought your title was a little mis-leading, but you cleared it up nicely.
Did you shut off your auto-posters?
Jasper,
Thanks for sharing you misfortune with us. A lot of people would have just quietly changed their ways but you were willing to help us all learn. Thanks for the honesty.
